Feedback Balls Feedback helps you to structure feedback and discussion sessions for large or small groups allowing you to gather each pupil's thoughts, feelings, goals and concerns around any issue.

Feedback can be used in many situations; individual feedback, group discussions, enterprise projects or any situation where you need to have richer more structured discussions. Each participant in turn selects a ball from the bag and then talks about the related topic.

The selected ball determines what he/she will talk about for example:

  • Heart - Name something you felt, or a feeling you experienced
  • Brain –Tell the group something that you learned
  • Hand - How the group supported you, or something that you will take away from the day.
  • Foot - What’s your next step? Or what direction would you like to see the group go?
  • Thumbs Up – What did you like or dislike?
  • Key – Was there any key moments or Key issues for you during the session?
  • Light bulb - Express your thoughts or shed light on an issue.

Example of use to help Stop Bullying

Feedback helps you to structure feedback and discussion sessions for large or small groups allowing you to gather each pupil's thoughts, feelings, and concerns around bullying and its effects.

Feedback engages pupils and encourages them to talk about all aspects of bullying. Participation from every pupil ensures a safe and open environment for all. Feedback helps engage pupils in discussion and promotes a safe learning environment where students can open up and discuss issues that they are facing or have witnessed.

A class that has a cooperative environment is far less likely to permit bullying. For example:

  • Heart - How does bullying make you feel?
  • Brain - What have we learnt from the discussion and from listening to other?
  • Hand - What can we do to help, when bullying occur?
  • Foot - What practical steps can we as a group take to help stop bullying?
  • Thumbs Up – What did you like or dislike e.g. about this discussion or the act of bullying on others?
  • Key – What is important for you? / What did you learn?
  • Light bulb - Express your thoughts and ideas on how we as a group can tackle bullying.
