Accessing public services and facilities can be difficult for disabled people, and barriers often exist simply because service providers don’t realise that they exist. The Removing Barriers Game helps anyone involved in providing public services and facilities used by the public to think about the barriers that disabled people face in everyday life.
The game also helps players to think about the small changes they can make to ensure that services can be used by all members of the public, including people with physical disabilities, visual or hearing impairments, learning difficulties or mental health conditions. This game is a useful tool for Disability Equality training, and helping businesses understand what it means to be truly accessible.
Players will learn about:
- Challenges and barriers faced by individuals with different impairments
- Practicalities of accessing services and facilities
- Simple ways to remove barriers for disabled people
