Playing the Harm Free Game helps frontline clinical and support staff to think about how avoidable harms can be reduced in their care setting. The board game features “patients” in different health and social care settings. Players work together to discuss and risk-assess their patients for harms such as falls or pressure ulcers. Fully assessed patients are sent to the “safe zone” to be evaluated by the game’s facilitator.
The Harm Free Game supports the NHS Harm Free Care programme and was a finalist in the Patient Safety Awards 2013. It promotes teamwork, discussion and reflective practice. Participants can share their experiences, reflect on them and use this to improve the way they work.
Players will learn to minimise risks for the following patient harms:
- Falls
- Catheter infections
- Pressure ulcers
- Venous Thromboembolisms
- Medication errors
- Nutrition & hydration
Audience
Suitable for all frontline clinical and support staff in acute, community or social care.
