Leadership Team Roulette helps student nurses practise the leadership behaviours they will need from day one of registration: prioritisation, delegation, communication, assertiveness, clinical decision-making and accountability. Using realistic healthcare scenarios and rotating leadership roles, students work together to create a plan of care, explain their rationale and reflect on the leadership skills required in professional practice.

Leadership Team Roulette is an interactive team-based learning game designed to develop leadership, communication, decision-making, and teamwork skills in clinical practice. Players work through realistic healthcare scenarios in small teams, taking turns to act as the nominated Leader for each round.

The Leader guides their team in creating a plan of care, facilitating discussion, and making final decisions before presenting their rationale to the wider group. After each scenario, facilitator-led feedback and debrief discussions encourage reflection on leadership styles, accountability, patient safety, assertiveness, and effective team communication.

By rotating leadership responsibilities throughout the game, participants gain hands-on experience applying leadership theory to practice, developing confidence as future healthcare professionals, and understanding the vital roles of both leaders and followers within a multidisciplinary team.
